PWC Chicago members are invited to hone their communication skills at The Room is Yours: Confident Communication, a 2-hour interactive Professional Development course led by Dr. Michelle Morkert. As a working professional, you are already leading projects, teams, meetings, client relationships, and organizations. Level-up your career development by learning practical strategies for confidently and authentically navigating the dynamics of any room. 

This interactive presentation provides training on effective ways to lead the room, make the ask, and hold the room, empowering attendees with practical strategies to use at their own meetings, networking events, and workplace conversations. Dr. Michelle will help participants examine gendered dynamics that can shape how women’s authority and expertise are received. Participants will practice strategies for advocating for the resources they need and being heard in the rooms where decisions are made. 

Learn how to present clear business cases and ensure your expertise is recognized—even when facing interruptions or being overlooked. Attend this session if you are a developing leader, taking on greater visibility and responsibility and ready to communicate as a leader.

Dr. Michelle Morkert is a global women’s leadership expert, speaker, and advisor whose work focuses on the intersection of gender, power, and organizational life. Her twenty-year career spans higher education, global gender studies, and organizational development. Today, she advises Fortune 500 companies and women leaders. 

A Fulbright Scholar, Michelle earned her PhD from Clark University and has conducted international work in Croatia, Guatemala, and Poland. She has served as a U.S. Department of State Balkan Regional Expert Reviewer. Known for making complex ideas accessible and practical, Dr. Morkert translates research on gender and power into frameworks that help people understand the dynamics they are navigating and respond with greater clarity and intention.
