Description
PWC Chicago members are invited to join an Industry in Focus Professional Development Course, The GC Process, led by Carie Carney—a Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Construction Manager, and PWC Chicago member with more than 40 years of commercial construction experience.
This interactive session demystifies the technical aspects of general contracting that are critical to building high-performing project teams, proactively solving common challenges, and achieving seamless final closeouts. Participants will gain key insights into the decision-making processes of GCs alongside actionable strategies for navigating construction workflows effectively.
Drawing from decades of field expertise, Carie will walk attendees through a real-world project scenario, offering practical tools to strengthen subcontractor relationships, avoid costly mistakes, and boost overall project profitability. Supported by a visual presentation, the course will cover core technical topics, including:
- Scope plan reviews and subcontractor buyout
- Managing RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Executing successful project closeouts
This course is ideal for professionals who are new to the industry, GC team members looking to better understand leadership perspectives, or industry partners seeking deeper insight into how general contractors evaluate and make key decisions.
